PITTSBURGH – Breanna Phillips and Felix Wolter of track & field were named the Pitt Student-Athletes of the Week following impressive performances this past weekend at the ACC Outdoor Championships.
Wolter had a huge weekend for the Panthers at the ACC Outdoor Championships hosted by Duke as he was able to claim his first ACC crown in the decathlon with a facility record score of 7,880 points. He is just the fifth Pitt male to earn an ACC title and the first decathlete in program history to earn a conference championship.
The Munich, Germany native earned 10 team points and First Team All-ACC honors as he won by over 700 points. His score is good enough for #13 in the NCAA this season as he has qualified for his first NCAA Outdoor Championships in the event. He finished off the 10-event gauntlet with three wins, four seconds, one third, one fourth and one fifth place finish as he was the only competitor to finish in the top-5 in all events.
On the track, senior Breanna Phillips had a big weekend for the Panthers as she was able to score points in a pair of events while also earning All-Conference honors for the first time in her outdoor career. Phillips posted her best showing of her Pitt career in the 400m hurdle finals on Saturday as she set a one second personal-record time of 58.96 seconds to secure fourth place overall and earn Second Team All-ACC honors. Her time also marked the seventh fastest in Pitt program history in the event.
The senior was then able to lead the Panthers' 4x400m relay squad to a fourth place finish with a season-best time of 3:40.71. She ran the third leg of the relay that was able to score five team points for the Panthers
