
Three School Records Broken in Day Three of ACC Championships

ATLANTA, Ga. — In the third day of competition at the ACC Championships, the University of Pittsburgh swimming and diving team broke three school records at the McCauley Aquatic Center.
The 200 Medley Relay team of Kayla Graham, Tatum Detwiler, Sophie Yendell, and Kate Fuhrmann surpassed their own record set at the 2021 Ohio State Invitational (1:39.13), touching in at 1:38.25. Graham broke her own 50 Backstroke record, set also at the 2021 Ohio State Invitational (25.19) swimming a 24.86 in the lead-off relay spot. In addition, freshman Krzysztof Radziszewski etched his name in the history books breaking Luke Smutney's 50 Backstroke record (21.63) with a 21.63 lead-off split in the men's 200 Medley Relay.
Three Panthers qualified for finals, all of which were in the women's 400 IM. Daisy Anderson earned a new PR of 4:13.84 to place 12th overall. Sarah-Helen Shepherd swam a 4:16.23 to earn 15th, followed by Dakota Elliott at 23rd with a time of 4:20.93. The trio combined to earn 29 points for the women's team. Anderson and Shepherd recorded NCAA B Standard times in the event.
Senior Amy Read placed 15th in the women's 3-meter diving competition to score 12 points for the women's team.
Senior Serhii Ahadzhanian fell short in a gut-wrenching swim-off for the 24th overall spot in the men's 100 Fly. Swimming a new PR of 46.59, he was out-touched 46.58 by Duke's Bradley Sanford, but picked up his first NCAA B Standard Cut of the season. Sophomore Javier Zorzano found himself in the first alternate spot for the men's 400 IM, finishing with a new personal best of 3:53.77 to secure 25th overall.
Also swimming for Pitt today, freshman Mia Sunseri finished 28th in the women's 400 IM (4:22.53), followed by senior Jacqueline Tinneny in 33rd (4:24.92), and freshman Sydney Rodriguez (4:26.32).
Three Panthers earned new personal bests in the men's 100 Fly prelims - junior Adam Mahler (30th, 47.34), freshman Trent Russano (33rd, 48.26), and freshman Austin Lane (34th, 48.40). Also, Madison Nalls finished 29th overall in the women's 200 Free, Wojciech Dutkowiak placed 30th in the men's 200 Free with a new PR of 1:36.64, along with Yendell in the 100 Fly (30th, 54.43).
The ACC Championships continue tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 18 with preliminaries beginning at 10 a.m. followed by finals at 6 p.m. Tomorrow's events will include the 200 Fly, 100 Back, 100 Breast, and men's platform diving.
The entire 2022 ACC Swimming and Diving Championships, including both prelims and finals, will be broadcast on ACCNX and the ESPN+ app.
