PITTSBURGH, PA – The Brandr Group (TBG) has established a group licensing program that will now be available to all University of Pittsburgh student-athletes. Through the program, Pitt student-athletes will enjoy enhanced opportunities to seek profit from their Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) through co-branding with the school's official trademarks and logos.
"Providing our student-athletes with an extraordinary academic, athletic and personal experience is our highest priority," said Pitt Director of Athletics Heather Lyke. "We support our student-athletes in all that they do, and this innovative program will create opportunities with regional and national partners eager to work with Pitt student-athletes. They will have the chance to capitalize on their own NIL while Pitt fans will get to enjoy new options for officially-licensed merchandise."
TBG will support the collective use of student-athletes' NIL in licensing and marketing programs, facilitating opportunities on behalf of the student-athletes, while not limiting individual NIL rights. All student-athlete participation is voluntary. Potential licensees interested in learning more about the program should contact Kathleen Melvin at TBG.
"Pitt has a storied tradition of athletic success, from the gridiron to the hardcourt, and it's an honor to be able to support the student-athletes from this iconic brand," said Len Stachitas, Chief Administrative Officer at The Brandr Group. "It's a new day for student-athletes across the country, and this new partnership will empower those at Pitt to financially capitalize on their NIL, while also opening doors to creative ways to engage the Panthers' passionate fan base."
TBG, a brand management, marketing and licensing agency, will manage and administer the program as well as develop licensing opportunities on behalf of the student-athletes. With decades of collective management experience for some of the world's largest brands, TBG also manages the group rights program for the NFL, NBA and MLB players' associations in the college space.
