Pitt Prepares for No. 18 UCLA, 2022 Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl

EL PASO, Texas—The Pitt football team arrived in West Texas on Christmas Day and was greeted warmly by a group representing the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl committee.

Pitt's Arrival in El Paso, Dec. 25
Monday saw Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi speak to the local media after the team's practice at Eastwood High School. Narduzzi thanked UTEP men's basketball coach Joe Golding for driving three Pitt players - Jake Frantl, Samuel Okunlola and Hudson Primus - nine hours from Dallas' airport to El Paso after they were all stuck there following flight cancellations on Dec. 25.
The story went viral as a "Christmas Miracle" thanks to the goodwill and hospitality of Golding, garnering national attention on news programs and social media.

Monday evening saw the Panthers taken to Top Golf El Paso to swing the club and have dinner with a wonderful view of the local desert mountains in the background.

After Tuesday morning practices, Pitt and UCLA both spent the afternoon and evening at Fort Bliss. Players had the opportunity to meet and learn from active duty military at Fort Bliss training facilities and see tanks, helicopters and simulators used by the Army's First Battalion. Staff and families then joined the team at Fort Bliss for an evening dinner including both programs at one of the world's largest military bases.
