Yendell Breaks Another Record on Third Day of Minnesota Invite

MINNEAPOLIS – The women's swimming program posted strong finishes in the finals of five different events as they completed the third day of competition at the Minnesota Invite, Friday night.
Panthers started the night of strong as junior Sophie Yendell smashed another record that she broke a year ago in the 100-yard fly. Yendell finished ninth overall with a time of 53.43 and qualified for an "NCAA B Cut" after dropping time from her morning swim. Kate Bailey (56.16) claimed 16th, Olivia Yoo (55.61) took 28th with Jill Berger (56.11) right behind in 29th-place after all dropping their times from the preliminary round.
The Panthers continued the evening with three individual qualifiers in the 400-yard IM: Jacqueline Tinneny, Mia Sunseri, and Yasmine Safargar. Tinneny (4:21.21) took 11th, Sunseri (4:27.35) claimed 23rd, and Safargar (4:24.19) finished 28th in the finals.
Emily Bucaro (1:51.26) took 24th and Janelle Schulz (1:51.31) claimed 28th which was a drop from her preliminary swim this morning in the 200-yard free.
In the 100-yard breast, Tatum Detwiler finished in 14th-place with a time of 1:02.38 which was a drop from her morning swim. Kate Fuhrmann (1:02.98), Maddie London (1:03.23), Angelina Messina (1:03.63), and Jayla Pina (1:04.96) finished 22nd, 23rd, 26th, and 30th.
Claire Jansen qualified for an "NCAA B Cut" with a time of 53.56 and placed 7th overall in the 100-yard back. Sophie Knepper (55.26) finished 17th, Holly Pringle (55.94) took 21st, Sydney Atkins (57.25) claimed 24th, Jenna Charlat (58.42) placed 26th, and Olivia Livingston (59.19) grabbed 28th.
Finishing the evening strong, Jansen, Detwiler, Yendell, and Fuhrmann took 10th-place with a 3:39.40 finish in the 400-yard medley relay. Knepper, London, Bailey, and Schulz finished in 16th with a time of 3:44.33.
The women's swimming program will return tomorrow for the fourth and final day of the meet. Preliminary events are set to begin at 11 a.m. ET with the final events slated for 7 p.m. ET. The top-32 finishers in the preliminary events will advance to the finals.
