
Pitt Men Post Strong Swims on Day Three of Minnesota Invite

MINNEAPOLIS – The men's swimming program sent 12 Panthers to the finals in five different events at the third day of the Minnesota invite, Friday night.
In the first event of the night, Senior Adam Mahler finished in 23rd-place overall with a time of 48.24 in the 100-yard fly.
The Panthers continued with three individual qualifiers in the 400-yard IM finals: Javier Zorzano, Michael Rine, and Alex Craft. Zorzano (3:56.20) took 8th overall, Rine (4:07.09) claimed 18th with Craft (4:08.11) right behind in 19th.
In the 200-yard free, Wojciech Dutkowiak finished in 27th-place with a time of 1:38.00 which was a drop from his morning swim in the preliminary round.
Qualifying for an NCAA B Cut, senior Cooper Van Der Laan took third overall with a time of 52.14 in the 100-yard breast which was a drop from his preliminary time. Jerry Chen (53.98) took 15th, Flyn Crisci (55.04) claimed 22nd, and Nick Short (54.59) finished 25th overall.
Panthers posted strong swims in the 100-yard back as Krzysztof Radziszewski qualifed for an "NCAA B Cut" with a time of 46.95 and placed 10th overall after dropping time from his morning swim. Marcin Goraj (47.67) took 15th, and Derek Zhang (48.61) finished in 23rd-place overall.
In the final event of the evening, the relay team comprised of Radziszewski, Van Der Laan, Goraj, and Dominic Toledo posted a strong finish in the 400-yard medley relay and placed 11th with a time of 3:10.37. Zhang, Chen, Mahler, and Crisci took 16th overall with a finish of 3:14.96.
The Panthers will return tomorrow to the pool for the final day of the meet. Preliminary events are set to begin at 11 a.m. ET with the final events slated for 7 p.m. ET. The top-32 finishers in the preliminary events will advance to the finals.
