PITTSBURGH – Rachel Dickerson from the women's diving team and football's Deslin Alexandre were named PNC Achievers of the Week following a week of winning across Pitt Athletics.

In just her second meet for the Panthers, freshman diver Rachel Dickerson dominated the springboards in a double dual meet against Georgia Tech and Boston College over the weekend. Dickerson won both the 1-meter (286.60) and 3-meter (299.95) while qualifying for NCAA Diving Zones in each event. This is the second-straight win in the 1-meter for Dickerson, as she won the event in the Panthers season opener against Notre Dame and Penn State.

Alexandre led a dominant defensive effort against No. 20 Syracuse by compiling a career-high seven tackles, 2.5 quarterback sacks and a pass breakup. The 6-foot-4, 275-pound senior iced the game when he sacked Carlos Del Rio-Wilson in the end zone for a safety, giving Pitt a two-score advantage with 1:35 left.

The Panthers limited Syracuse to 145 total yards, including a mere 25 on the ground. Syracuse's Sean Tucker, who entered the game as the ACC's second-leading rusher at 94.8 yards per game, was limited to just 19 yards on 10 carries.

On the year, Alexandre has collected 23 tackles, five tackles for loss, 4.5 quarterback sacks, six QB hurries and two pass breakups. The two-time team captain has been a vital contributor for a Pitt defensive unit that ranks 10th nationally in sacks (3.22 per game), 17th against the run (109.4 yards per game) and 26th in total defense (328.2 yards per game).
