
Panthers Complete First Day of Minnesota Invite

MINNEAPOLIS – The University of Pittsburgh men's and women's swimming teams posted strong swims against top talent during the first day of the Minnesota Invite Wednesday night.
The first night of competition consisted of two final events: the 200-yard medley relay and the 800-yard free relay.
The relay team of Claire Jansen, Tatum Detwiler, Sophie Yendell and Kate Fuhrmann finished seventh overall in the women's 200 medley relay with a time of 1:38.63. The team finished behind relay teams from top-25 programs: No. 1 Texas, No. 13 Wisconsin, No. 14 California, and receiving votes Minnesota.
Krzysztof Radziszewski, Cooper Van Der Laan, Marcin Goraj and Flynn Crisci finished strong in ninth place in the men's 200 medley relay with the time of 1:26.03.
Ending the night strong, the women's 800 free relay team of Claire Jansen, Kate Bailey, Emily Bucaro and Jill Berger posted a time of 7:25.63 for a 12th-place overall finish. Jacqueline Tinneny, Olivia Yoo, Janelle Schulz and Sophie Knepper finished right behind in 13th-place with a time of 7:25.89.
During the men's 800 free relay, Marcin Goraj, Wojciech Dutkowiak, Dominic Toledo and Guy Frimis recorded a final time of 6:31.75 for a 12th-place overall finish.
The Panthers return to the pool tomorrow for the second day of the four-day meet. Preliminary events are set to begin at 11 a.m. ET with the final events slated for 7 p.m. ET. The top-32 finishers in the preliminary events will advance to the finals.
