Pitt Men Post Strong Swims Against George Washington

PITTSBURGH – The Pitt men's swimming team posted a strong swim during the first day of a two-day meet against George Washington, winning 6 of 8 events Friday night at Trees Pool.
Pitt entered the meet with a 32-4 lead over the Colonials from the diving meet on Nov. 11-12. Senior Dylan Reed earned three first-place finishes in the platform, 1-meter and 3-meter events, while setting a new personal record in the 1-meter.
The Panthers started the meet off strong as the 400-yard medley relay teams claimed first and second-place finishes. The relay team of Marcin Goraj, Cooper Van der Laan, Adam Mahler and Flynn Crisci finished first with the time of 3:15.48. Krzysztof Radziszewski, Jerry Chen, Drew Jalbert and Dominic Toledo came in second with the time of 3:17.52.
The Panthers' momentum continued to roll with Wojciech Dutkowiak claiming second (4:32.72) and Guy Frimis (4:34.61) taking third in the 500-yard freestyle.
Pitt swept the 100-yard breaststroke with Van der Laan (53.65), Chen (54.60) and Crisci (56.58) taking first, second and third, respectively.
Other notable finishes included Goraj (first, 1:46.75); Radziszewski (third, 1:51.65); and Jered Moore (fourth, 1:53.56) picking up points for the Panthers in the 200-yard backstroke. Toledo claimed first in the 100-yard freestyle (45.29) as Javier Zorzano (4:00.23) and Jerry Chen (4:04.70) went first and second in the 400-yard individual medley.
The men's 200-yard freestyle relay also saw success against the Colonials, as Crisci, Radziszewski, Toledo and Frimis took first with a time of 1:22.82. Frimis also took second place in the 100-yard breaststroke.
