Petersen Events Center and Fitzgerald Field House Policies and Protocols

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh athletic department is committed to providing fans the opportunity to enjoy Pitt Athletic events in a safe and secure environment. Pitt would like to reiterate its policies and procedures at the Petersen Events Center and Fitzgerald Field House due to the recent increase in COVID cases through the Omicron variant.
University of Pittsburgh health guidelines currently require all persons to wear face coverings when inside University buildings, regardless of vaccination status. Accordingly, attending fans over the age of 2 will be required to wear face coverings inside the Petersen Events Center and Fitzgerald Field House, unless actively eating or drinking. Updated health and safety protocols and additional information on the University of Pittsburgh COVID-19 pandemic responses can be found HERE.
COVID-19 Event Day Operational Procedures
• All staff will be wearing proper PPE including face coverings.
• Face coverings will be required of all guests unless actively eating/drinking, regardless of vaccination status.
• The Petersen Events Center/Pitt Athletics Department utilize mobile ticketing.
• Clear bag policy to limit close interaction between staff/patron, while being able to view bag contents.
• Touch free – soap dispensers, sink faucets, paper towel dispensers and hand sanitizer stations throughout the facility.
• Auto-flushers installed on all urinals and sinks
• All escalators have been equipped with a UV light to continuously disinfect the handrails without interruption.
• HVAC air filters Each use Merv13 filters to filter out particulates smaller than 1 micron.
• Increase in the amount of outside air to reduce the amount of recycled air in the building.
• Staff have participated in OSHA Workplace Hygiene and Illness Prevention training.
• Scheduled routine wipe downs of all building touchpoints with industry approved anti-viral/disinfectant cleaner.
