West, Bailey Named Pitt Student-Athletes of the Week

Women’s Soccer, Men’s Soccer Student-Athletes Honored
PITTSBURGH – Amanda West of women's soccer and Matt Bailey of men's soccer were named the Pitt Student-Athletes of the Week following impressive performances in their respective sports.
West scored the game-winning goal and assisted on an insurance goal to lead Pitt to a 2-0 win at Miami Sunday for its first ACC victory of the season. West posted her 12th career three-plus point game, extending her program record, and moved ahead of Katelyn Ruhe (2008-11) for the second-most career assists (19) in school history.
Bailey's first career goal as a Panther proved to be one of the most important goals of the season for Pitt, as his 58th minute score gave Pitt a 1-0 lead over No. 2 Clemson, who held on to win 2-0 over the Tigers. Starting for the first time this season against Clemson, Bailey scored via a Veljko Petkovic pass and helped the Panthers earn their second victory over a top-five opponent this year (No. 4 North Carolina).
