9/16/2021 7:45:00 PM | Men's Basketball
PITTSBURGH – The full 2021-22 Pitt Men's Basketball schedule was released Thursday evening during the hour-long Nothing But Net: Basketball Schedule Release show featuring Kelsey Riggs, Dalen Cuff and Luke Hancock on the ACC Network.
"We are excited about the season ahead of us," said head coach Jeff Capel. "The Atlantic Coast Conference schedule is always challenging with so many outstanding programs in this conference. I like what I have seen from our team this offseason and believe we will come out hungry to compete and prove ourselves in what I believe is the best conference in the country. We are also looking forward to having fans back at the Petersen Events Center and feeding off the great college basketball atmosphere the Oakland Zoo helps provide."
The Panthers open conference play with an early December road game at Virginia (Dec. 3) before closing the calendar year at home against Notre Dame (Dec. 28).
Pitt will also host Boston College (Jan. 8), Louisville (Jan. 15), Virginia (Jan. 19), Syracuse (Jan. 25), Virginia Tech (Feb. 5), NC State (Feb. 12), Georgia Tech (Feb. 19), Miami (Feb. 22) and Duke (March 1). The Panthers' final home game of the season March 1 against Duke will be Hall of Fame head coach Mike Krzyzewski's final game in Pittsburgh. Krzyzewski announced his retirement at the end of the season over the summer.
The Panthers' road slate included trips to Virginia Tech (Jan. 1), Louisville (Jan. 5), Syracuse (Jan. 11), Clemson (Jan. 22), Boston College (Jan. 29), Wake Forest (Feb. 2), Florida State (Feb. 9), North Carolina (Feb. 16) and Notre Dame (March 5).
Duke (No. 11), North Carolina (No. 17), Florida State (No. 21), Virginia Tech (No. 24) and Virginia (No. 25) are each currently ranked in the Top 25 of ESPN's Way-to-Early rankings. Pitt will host three of the five (Duke, Virginia & Virginia Tech) at the Petersen Events Center.
Pitt will play 15 conference games on the ACC Network with the other five airing on the ESPN family of networks (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU). Game times and TV designations for non-conference games will be announced at a later date.
The Panthers will also play Gannon in an exhibition game Monday, Nov. 1 at the Petersen Events Center.
Season tickets are now on sale through the Panther Ticket Office. Mini-plan and single-game tickets will go on sale at a later date.
Pitt has also partnered with FanRally to offer subscription memberships to a new premium experience at the Petersen Events Center in the IC Light Baseline Club.
