
Former Pitt Standout Eric Mobley Passes Away

PITTSBURGH – Eric Mobley, a standout player with the Panthers and the No. 18 pick in the 1994 NBA Draft, passed away Wednesday following a battle with cancer.
Mobley starred at Pitt from 1991-94 earning third team All-Big East and second team NABC All-Region accolades during his senior season with the Panthers. He averaged 13.7 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game during the 1993-94 season.
The Bronx, N.Y., native concluded his Pitt career with 900 points, 599 rebounds and 184 blocks in 88 career contests (50 starts). He ranks sixth in the Panther record books in career field goal percentage (.566) and third in blocks (184).
Mobley was taken by the Milwaukee Bucks with the No. 18 pick in the 1994 NBA Draft and went on to play three seasons in the league with the Bucks and Vancouver Grizzlies. He appeared in 113 games and averaged 3.9 points, 3.1 rebounds, 0.5 assists, 0.2 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game.
