No. 2 Pitt Falls to No. 3 Indiana in College Cup Semifinal

CARY, N.C. – The No. 2 seed Pitt men's soccer fell to No. 3 seed Indiana, 1-0, Friday evening in the NCAA College Cup Semifinal at Sahlen's Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park.

The Panthers, who held most of the possession in the first half, continued that trend and totaled two shots in the first five minutes of the second half. In the 58th minute, the Panthers nearly scored after freshman Filip Mirkovic's shot hit the cross bar, deflected down toward the goal line and was cleared away by the Hoosier defense. The referees halted the game to review via VAR, but no goal was called.
Pitt again found a chance inside the Indiana 18 when redshirt freshman Luke Mort found space on the right side of the field and shot from 13 yards out, missing just high of the cross bar.
The Hoosiers scored the lone goal of the game in the 79th minute, as Herbert Endeley converted a right foot strike from inside the 18-yard box. Pitt recorded two shots in the remaining 11 minutes but the Hoosiers held the Panthers scoreless.
Sophomores Valentin Noel and Veljko Petkovic each had three shots and one shot on goal. Graduate student goalkeeper Nico Campuzano had one save for the evening and finished with 18 saves for the NCAA Tournament.
