Softball, Men’s Soccer Student-Athletes Honored
PITTSBURGH – Cami Compson of softball and Nico Campuzano of men's soccer were named the Office Depot/Supra Student-Athletes of the Week following impressive performances in their respective sports.
Compson, a freshman, recorded one of the most memorable hits in school history Friday night, as she hit a walk-off two-run home run to give Pitt a 6-5 victory over No. 6/9 Florida State. The victory over the Seminoles was the highest ranked win in program history. Compson went 2-for-4 for the day with two RBI and two runs scored.
Campuzano, a graduate student, recorded his fifth shutout of the season with a career-high 10 saves in Pitt's 4-0 victory over UCF in the NCAA Third Round Thursday afternoon. Campuzano stopped six shots in the first half and four in the second and earned his 15th victory in goal for the year. His season wins count broke a single-season school record, surpassing Adam Spitzer's record of 14 set in 1995. Campuzano has 61 saves on the year, currently ranked third in the nation.
