PITTSBURGH—The promotional dates for Pitt Football's 2021 home schedule have been announced for the Panthers' home contests at Heinz Field this upcoming fall.
Returning quarterback Kenny Pickett and an exciting mixture of talented veterans and emerging stars lead the Panthers into Coach Pat Narduzzi's seventh season at the University of Pittsburgh.
The 2021 home slate includes Clemson's first visit to Pittsburgh, exciting games against ACC Coastal Division rivals Miami, North Carolina and Virginia as well as three nonconference contests.
Here are the promotional dates for the Panthers' 2021 football season at Heinz Field:
September 4 | Pitt vs. UMass
The Panthers will open the 2021 campaign against the Massachusetts Minutemen at Heinz Field on Saturday, Sept. 4.
Pitt's home opener, sponsored by Clearview Federal Credit Union, will also be its first meeting with UMass on the gridiron. Plans are in the works for the Labor Day weekend return of the annual Heinz Field Kickoff and Rib Festival outside the stadium on the North Shore before and after the game.
September 18 | Pitt vs. Western Michigan
After a trip to Tennessee, Pitt returns home for a Sept. 18 game with Western Michigan, one of the top programs in the Mid-American Conference in recent years.
The Panthers and Broncos, who haven't previously played in football, begin a home-and-home series at Heinz Field in 2021 before Pitt travels to Kalamazoo for a scheduled game at WMU in 2022.
September 25 | Pitt vs. New Hampshire
The 2021 University of Pittsburgh Homecoming is slated for Saturday, Sept. 25 when the Panthers welcome New Hampshire to Heinz Field for the final nonconference game of the season.
Pitt defeated the Wildcats by a score of 38-16 in 2010 in the only prior meeting between the teams.
October 23 | Pitt vs. Clemson
After a couple weeks away from home and a bye week, the Panthers return to Heinz Field to face the defending ACC champions Clemson for the Tigers' first ever visit to the city of Pittsburgh on Oct. 23.
Clemson's debut at Heinz Field will also serve as Pitt Athletics' annual Hall of Fame Weekend. The 2020 and 2021 induction classes of Pitt greats from various sports will be honored on the field during the game and throughout the weekend, and several Pitt football legends are expected to attend this highly anticipated showdown between the Panthers and Tigers.
October 30 | Pitt vs. Miami
Another exciting conference clash on the gridiron will be held at Heinz Field on Halloween Eve in 2021 as the Panthers host the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday, Oct. 30.
Pitt will celebrate Family Weekend for the game, with the Panthers looking to emulate Pickett's debut starting performance that resulted in a memorable victory over previously undefeated Miami at Heinz Field in 2017.
November 11 | Pitt vs. North Carolina
The eyes of the college football world will be on Heinz Field for this nationally televised Thursday night game against Coach Mack Brown, quarterback Sam Howell and the North Carolina Tar Heels.
In what could be a crucial contest in the ACC's Coastal Division, the Veteran's Day meeting between the Panthers and Tar Heels will serve as Pitt's Military Appreciation Day as active military and veterans are set to be honored.
November 20 | Pitt vs. Virginia
The Saturday before Thanksgiving will see Pitt conclude its 2021 home schedule on Nov. 20 with a key matchup against Virginia in a contest featuring the last two teams to win the ACC's Coastal Division.
Pitt's senior class will be recognized prior to the game in the annual Senior Day ceremony.
