PITTSBURGH – EC Taylor of softball and Israel Abanikanda of football were named the Office Depot/Supra Student-Athletes of the Week following impressive performances in their respective sports.
Taylor, a sophomore, recorded a team-high .538 batting average in Pitt's split against Boston College, going 7-for-13 with two RBI, five runs, a triple and two stolen bases. She also registered a team-best .600 on-base percentage. Taylor's second stolen base of the series was her 27th of the season, which tied her for second in a single-season at Pitt. In her last eight games, Taylor has hit .630 (17-for-27) with 12 runs, six RBI, 19 total bases and has tallied a .667 on-base percentage. The Panthers are 6-2 as a team in that span.

Prior to Pitt's Blue-Gold Spring Game presented by PNC Bank at Heinz Field, Abanikanda was presented with the Ed Conway Award annually given to the football team's most improved players of spring drills. Then Abanikanda provided a spark for the Blue Team by producing a game-high 77 rushing yards on six carries (12.8 avg.), including an exciting 42-yard burst down the sideline.
