Two Divers Qualify for NCAA Championships Thursday

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Pittsburgh men's and women's diving team recorded two top-three finishes Thursday afternoon in day one of the NCAA Zone A Championships, qualifying them for the NCAA Championships in Greensboro.
Sophomore Dylan Reed took first in the men's 3-meter, totaling a score of 358.20 in the final round. Reed will compete for the first time at the Men's Swimming & Diving Championships March 24-27 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Junior Amy Read punched a ticket to the NCAA Women's Swimming & Diving Championships for the third year in a row, this time in the women's 1-meter event. The Leeds, England, native posted a third-place score of 258.10. She will compete for gold next week, beginning March 17 and through March 20 at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Of the 31 participants in the women's 1-meter, sophomore Emma Gravgaard and junior Serena Buchwald each earned a spot in the finals. Gravgaard registered a score of 246.10 (11th), while Buchwald tallied a mark of 243.90, earning 14th.
Junior Wesley Ahart qualified for the finals in the men's 3-meter, taking fourth-place with a 277.05 score. Ahart recorded a 303.55 mark in the preliminary round.
Sophomore Meredith Gould and freshman Claire McDaniels also competed in the women's 1-meter preliminary round, with Gould finishing 29th (206.90) and McDaniels 20th (229.45).
Both the men and women are back in action tomorrow at 10:30 a.m., with the women competing in the 3-meter and the men in the platform.
