
Four Panthers Named to South All-Region Team

PITTSBURGH – Four Pitt men's soccer players were named to the United Soccer Coaches South All-Region teams.
Graduate student defender Jasper Löeffelsend and junior midfielder Valentin Noel earned First Team honors, while senior defender Arturo Ordoñez and graduate student midfielder Jackson Walti received Second Team recognition.
The four All-Region selections are the second-most in a single-year in program history. The four players totals 16 overall in Pitt history and 12 under Head Coach Jay Vidovich.
Löeffelsend, who was named a MAC Hermann Trophy Semifinalist yesterday, earns his second career All-Region honor as he was named First Team last year. The Cologne, Germany, native was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season while also earning All-ACC First Team accolades. He ranks 18th nationally and second in the ACC in total assists with nine while ranking 14th in the country and second in the league with a 0.53 assists per game mark. He finished the 2021 campaign with two goals, nine assists and 11 shots in 17 games played.
Noel, a MAC Hermann Trophy Finalist a season ago adds to his postseason accolade list with his second First Team South All-Region honor. The Niort, France, native finished 10th in the ACC in total points (19) and ninth in total goals (9). He tallied five assists, 44 shots and 19 shots on goal in 19 games played. Noel really came on in the second half of the season, totaling 12 points in Pitt's final eight games with five goals and two assists to help Pitt to the Elite Eight.
Ordoñez earns his first career All-Region honor after receiving All-ACC Second Team recognition last month. A catalyst to the Pitt back line the past three seasons, Ordoñez finished with three goals, one assist and 18 shots in 19 games played. The Salou, Spain, product aided a back line to six shutouts while the Pitt offense more than doubled its goals scored than the opponents total (52-23).
A native of Vevey, Switzerland, Walti earns his second All-Region honor as he was named Third Team a year ago. He finished with one goal, two assists and 15 shots while starting in every match this year. A three-year captain for the Panthers, Walti has appeared and started in every match he has played in since the beginning of his sophomore year in 2018. The midfielder scored his first career NCAA Tournament goal in the second round versus Northern Illinois, a goal which proved to be the game-winner in a 5-2 victory.
