GREENSBORO, N.C. – Pitt graduate student Felix Wolter has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Field Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. It marks the second time Wolter has earned the weekly recognition since joining the Panthers last season.
Wolter is the third Pitt field athlete to earn the weekly recognition during the indoor season joining teammate Greg Lauray and Andrew Wells.
The Munich, Germany native had a monster opening weekend for the Panthers at the Youngstown State Icebreaker as he was able to collect the victory in the long jump. Wolter was able to set a new meet and facility record with a long jump of 25'4.75" (7.74m). His jump also marked the second best in Pitt program history while being the No. 1 leap in the NCAA so far this season.
The graduate student also ran a strong opening leg for the Panthers' 4x400m relay squad that took home second place at the YSU Icebreaker with a time of 3:20.23.
Wolter is etching his name in the Pitt record books in multiple events as he is now the school indoor record holder in the heptathlon while ranking second in program history in the long jump and pole vault.
The Pitt track and field squads have a month off before they return to action at the Nittany Lion Challenge on Saturday, Jan. 15.
