Mirkovic Leads Way in TopDrawerSoccer Postseason Awards

PITTSBURGH – Sophomore Filip Mirkovic earned two TopDrawerSoccer postseason awards, leading the way with two of six total accolades for the Panthers.
Mirkovic was named to the Best XI Third Team and received a ranking of 31 in the Men's Postseason Top 100. Graduate student Jasper Löeffelsend (No. 34), sophomore Bertin Jacquesson (No. 48), junior Valentin Noel (No. 52) and senior Arturo Ordoñez (No. 69) also earned spots in the Top 100. In addition, freshman Guilherme Feitosa earned an updated ranking of No. 28 in the Freshman Top 100 list.
Mirkovic finished with three goals and five assists in 20 games played for the Panthers. He was pivotal during the NCAA Tournament run, tallying an assist verses Norther Illinois and recording a goal and an assist versus Hofstra. The Manhattan, N.Y., product registered a brace at home versus Duke, giving Pitt the lead late in the second half of a 3-2 victory.
Löeffelsend adds to his postseason accolade collection as he was named United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-American and College Soccer News First Team All-American earlier this month. The ACC Defensive Player of the Year finished as one of the best passers in the country, totaling nine assists (18th in nation) and a 0.53 assists per game mark (14th in nation). He scored his first career goal at home versus UMass, a brace in a 5-1 victory over the Minutemen.
Jacquesson had a career year in 2021, leading the team with 25 points with seven goals scored and a team-best 11 assists. The 11 assist are tied for most in a single season at Pitt. His assist count was best in the ACC and fifth in the country, while he finished 12th in the country and first in the league in assists per game (0.55). He was named to the All-ACC Second Team.
Noel recorded 19 points during the 2021 campaign, scoring seven goals and registered five assists a season after being named a MAC Hermann Trophy Finalist. In postseason matches this fall (ACC and NCAA Tournament), Noel scored three goals and had one assist in aiding Pitt to a second-straight Elite Eight appearance. He was named to the United Soccer Coaches South All-Region First Team and All-ACC Second Team.
Ordoñez finished the season with three goals and one assist. The center back was a pivotal piece in the back line who showed offensive abilities as well, scoring against Syracuse in the closing minutes of the match in Pitt's victory over the Orange. The Salou, Spain, native's efforts earned him United Soccer Coaches South All-Region Second Team and All-ACC Second Team.
