PITTSBURGH – Sophomore midfielder Bertin Jacquesson was named to College Soccer News' Team of the Week for his performance against Northern Illinois in the NCAA Tournament Second Round Sunday.
The Frenchman had a career day in Pitt's 5-2 win over the Huskies, recording a goal and three assists. His assist total matched an NCAA Tournament single-game best and is the first player since 2018 to tally three assists in one match in an NCAA tournament contest. This is the second time in his career he has registered three assists in one match, doing so at home vs. Virginia Tech Oct. 10, 2020.
Jacquesson scored Pitt's second goal of the evening that took the lead midway through the first half (2-1). He assisted Guilherme Feitosa's goal – Pitt's first of the night – and Valentin Noel and Alexander Dexter's goals as well.
Jacquesson has 11 assists for the season, which ties Eric Prex's (1994) single-season assist record. The forward has 18 for his career in two seasons, a mark tied with teammate Jasper Löeffelsend for third all-time in Pitt history.
The No. 5 seed Panthers next host Hofstra in the NCAA Tournament Third Round Saturday, Nov. 27. Kick-off is slated for 4 p.m. on ACCNX.
