PITTSBURGH – University of Pittsburgh student-athletes Julia Foster, Chloe Jones, Carlie Leach, Therese Pitman, and Allyson Trice have been named team captains for inaugural season of Pitt Lacrosse as announced by head coach Emily Boissonneault Friday morning.
"I am beyond impressed with the leadership on our team," said Boissonneault. "Every returner, transfer and freshman bring something to this program that makes us better. The five young women we have announced as our captains truly embody every aspect of our team. I am excited to see them step up and lead our team to a great inaugural season."
Leach and Pitman are returnees from last year's group, while Foster, Jones, and Trice each joined the Panthers this summer. All five players are veteran transfers from other programs and will look to lead the team into the Panthers this season.
Leach began her career at Oregon where she scored 24 goals and added six assists in 21 career games over two seasons, while Pitman was named First Team All-MAAC in her last full season at Siena in which she started all 19 games. The Sherrill, N.Y., native began her career at Binghamton and has played 39 career games (26 starts)
Pitt's newcomer trio of captains brings a wealth of experience as well as accomplishment. Foster, a 2021 IWCLA DII All-American, recorded 128 goals and 53 assists in 63 games at Limestone University, while Jones and Trice have played in the Atlantic Coast Conference for the past four seasons.
Jones finished her career at Virginia with 23 goals, 10 assists and 20 ground balls in 44 contests and Trice started 36 of 53 career games on defensive end, including all 21 games last season during Syracuse's run to the national championship game.
The Panthers completed fall exhibition play last weekend and their 2022 schedule will be released soon.
