Petersen Events Center Adds New Elements Heading into 2021-22 Season

PITTSBURGH – Pitt Athletics continues to work with corporate partners to improve the overall gameday experience at the Petersen Events Center. Along with seat upgrades in the lower bowl and the addition of a new premium spaces, Pitt has also taken several other measures to improve the fan experience at one of the best on-campus venues in the country.
Pitt has created the I.C. Light Baseline Club for fans looking to enjoy all the action on the court in a pub-style setting. Pitt partnered with FanRally to offer subscription memberships to a new premium experience at the Petersen Events Center. Subscribers will have the opportunity to reserve seats and general admission passes to the Club for any Pitt home game. This exclusive area boasts a built-in modern bar featuring sponsor I.C. Light products along with a full complement of beverages, brewery-style communal tables as well as seated counter tops overlooking the court. This new space with a total capacity of 500, designed to promote a great social experience, also features an exclusive food menu with specialty pub options not available throughout the rest of the arena. In addition, the club will open two hours prior to tip-off and will have a dedicated entrance next to Concourse A.

Premium seating at the Petersen Events Center continues to be enhanced with the addition of 1,608 padded club seats with increased foam thickness on both back and seat bottom for improved fan comfort along with taller seat backs in sections 107-109 and 120-122. Club seat holders at the PEC have access to the Campus View Club, which features fully stocked bars, upscale dining options, and restroom facilities.
The Platinum Club, located on the Club Level above sections 108 and 109, now features permanent seating with padded wide chairs, lounge seating, more TVs, and enhanced presentation space for included hospitality. With the redesign of the Platinum Club, guests will enjoy the luxury of a suite experience from a great center court vantage point..
The court level seating at the Pete, home of the famed Oakland Zoo, also received an upgrade with 1,100 new ergonomically designed polymer seats.
With convenience and efficiency in mind, Pitt has added mobile concessions ordering through the Pitt Panthers Gameday Mobile App for the 2021-22 season. Fans now have the ability to avoid concessions lines by placing food and beverage orders through the mobile app and picking up their orders throughout the arena. The Pitt Panthers Gameday Mobile App is available to download on Apple or Google Play.
New concessions offerings this season include Smokeland BBQ, an exclusive pierogi menu and expanded craft beer selections throughout the arena. In addition, the Food Court on the lobby level of the Petersen Events Center, featuring a full menu Chick-Fil-A, will be open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. for fans to enjoy a pre or postgame meal.
An upper deck curtain system was also installed to attract additional concerts, shows and events to the Petersen Events Center by creating a more intimate and private environment in the arena with the ability will be able to reduce capacity to around 6,000 fans.
The Petersen Events Center continues to refine the environmental branding with a complete renovation of the lobby floor along with wayfinding signage throughout the building.
With construction on campus and the removal of the O'Hara Parking Garage the best public parking options remain at Soldiers & Sailors Garage and Towerview Garage. Fans parking at Soldiers & Sailors Garage (4390 Bigelow Blvd.) have the option of using a shuttle service with drop off on Terrace Street. Towerview Garage is located off Robinson Street Ext. Panther Club members with basketball season tickets can purchase season parking permits in the parking lots closest to the Petersen Events Center.
Pitt has introduced a clear bag policy at Heinz Field, Petersen Events Center, Fitzgerald Field House and the Petersen Sports Complex. Full details of the clear bag policy are available HERE.
University of Pittsburgh health guidelines currently require all persons to wear face coverings when inside University buildings, regardless of vaccination status. Accordingly, attending fans over the age of 2 will be required to wear face coverings inside the Petersen Events Center, unless actively eating or drinking.
