Pitt’s Hallett Named ACC Defensive Back of the Week

PITTSBURGH—Pitt junior free safety Erick Hallett II has been named the ACC Defensive Back of the Week for his performance in the Panthers' 28-7 victory at Virginia Tech this past weekend.
Hallett (Cypress, Texas/Cy-Fair) compiled four tackles, two pass breakups and a pivotal interception against the Hokies.

With Pitt holding a 7-0 lead in the second quarter, Hallett picked off a Braxton Burmeister pass with a diving effort at the Virginia Tech 29. The Panthers converted the turnover into a short touchdown drive and 14-0 lead.
In his first season as a full-time starter, Hallett is Pitt's third-leading tackler with 26 stops. He has a team-high four pass breakups and shares the team lead with one interception, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble.
Owning a No. 23 ranking in both national polls, Pitt will host Clemson this Saturday in one of its most anticipated home games in recent memory. The Panthers are 5-1 overall and lead the Coastal Division with a 2-0 ACC mark. The Tigers (4-2, 3-1) are ranked No. 24 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
