Panthers Post Strong Swims and Dives in Final Day Against Notre Dame, Cleveland State

Men’s diving gets their second sweep of the meet, earning the top three 3M spots
SOUTH BEND— The University of Pittsburgh swimming and diving teams combined to post impressive results in the second and final day of the Notre Dame / Cleveland State tri-meet at the Rolfs Aquatic Center. The Panthers secured 17 podium finishes, two personal bests, and another sweep for the men's diving team in the 3M on day two. Overall, the team concluded the meet in second place out of the three competing schools.
The men's team displayed strong performances all around, topped by three first-place finishes; Marcin Goraj in the 100 Back (48.97), Adam Mahler in the 200 Fly (1:48.73), and Jerry Chen in the 200 Breast (1:58.31). Both men's relays touched in at second place as the 200 Medley Relay A (Stephen Hopta, Cooper Van der Laan, Adam Mahler, Flynn Crisci) finished with a time of 1:30.09 and the 400 Medley A (Serhii Ahadzhanian, Flynn Crisci, Marcin Goraj, Dominic Toledo) ending with a 3:01.54. Goraj secured his second personal best of the tri-meet in the 200 Free (1:41.18), in addition to Crisci who topped his previous 50 Free time with a 20.84.
"We swam and competed much better today," said head coach John Hargis. "We are really asking for our younger athletes to grow up fast and they're doing that. We swept a couple of events today and overall, just had more energy and enthusiasm throughout. Overall, I am very excited for where we are and it's a great place to continue to build upon."
The men's diving team earned their second sweep of the meet in the 3M, securing a 1-2-3 finish. Dylan Reed earned his second victory and NCAA Zone Cut in South Bend with 380.85 points. Reed was followed by Cameron Cash in second (295.05) and Josh Parquet in third (288.45). Amy Read placed second in the women's 1M with 297.75 points, earning her fifth NCAA Zone Cut of the season.
Next up, the Panthers will host George Washington and Penn State (diving only) for a two-day meet Friday, Nov. 5 and Saturday, Nov. 6.
