PITTSBURGH—The University of Pittsburgh placed five student-athletes on the 2020 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Football Team.
Pitt's 2020 All-ACC Academic Football Team honorees are senior long snapper Cal Adomitis, junior defensive end Deslin Alexandre, junior punter Kirk Christodoulou, junior offensive tackle Gabe Houy and senior center Jimmy Morrissey.
Morrissey was named to the All-ACC Academic Football Team for the fourth consecutive year, joining former offensive tackle Adam Bisnowaty (2013-16) as the only Pitt players to achieve that feat. Christodoulou was honored for the third time, while Alexandre earned his second All-ACC Academic honor.
To be eligible for consideration, a student-athlete must have earned at least a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a minimum 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the team.
The Panthers have had at least five All-ACC Academic selections in each season of Pat Narduzzi's tenure (since 2015).
"We are extremely proud of these five young men for earning recognition on the All-ACC Academic Football Team," Narduzzi said. "What a great reflection of their commitment to excellence as students and as athletes. Cal, Deslin, Kirk, Gabe and Jimmy truly represent what we are striving for in our football program."
Adomitis (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) concluded his fourth season as Pitt's starting long snapper and has appeared in 50 consecutive games. He was tabbed by Phil Steele as a first-team All-ACC long snapper and Honorable Mention All-American. Adomitis is majoring in economics.
Alexandre (Pompano Beach, Fla./Deerfield Beach) has been an integral performer for Pitt's nationally ranked defense the past two seasons. In 2020, he compiled 18 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, three sacks and a fumble recovery. Alexandre earned his bachelor's degree in communication and is now enrolled in Pitt's Katz Graduate School of Business.
Christodoulou (Melbourne, Australia/Balwyn) was named a Pro Football Focus All-American and Ray Guy Award semifinalist after averaging a career-high 44.7 yards on 53 punts. He placed 23 punts inside the 20-yard line with only one touchback. Christodoulou is enrolled in Pitt's Katz Graduate School of Business after earning his bachelor's degree in finance.
Houy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) played in nine games this past season, starting eight at right tackle. He has been a fixture on the Panthers' offensive front the past three years. Houy is an administration of justice major.
Morrissey (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./La Salle College H.S.) is one of the most accomplished centers in recent Pitt history. A two-time team captain, he made 47 starts over the past four years.
Morrissey was named the recipient of the 2020 Burlsworth Trophy, annually presented to the most outstanding player in college football who began his career as a walk-on. He was a three-time All-ACC performer, earning first-team accolades as a senior from the Associated Press. Morrissey enrolled in Pitt's Katz Graduate School of Business after earning his bachelor's in finance and marketing.
