Artis Signs Deal with BC Juventus

PITTSBURGH – Former standout forward and Pitt alum Jamel Artis signed a one year deal with Lithuanian club BC Juventus, as announced by the club on Monday.
The Baltimore, Md., native joins BC Juventus after spending a season in France with the Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans during the 2019-20 season. Artis averaged 13.3 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists in the Jeep Elite with the Metropolitans.
Prior to playing in France, Artis joined the New York Knicks' summer league roster in 2017, averaging 8.8 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists per contest in five games. Artis agreed to a two-way contract with the Orlando Magic on Oct. 16, 2017, and made his NBA debut on Dec. 13, 2017 against the LA Clippers.
He recently joined team Sideline Cancer in The Basketball Tournament (TBT), a $1 million winner-take-all prize basketball tournament broadcasted by ESPN each summer. Artis and Sideline Cancer reached the Championship round of the tournament, falling to the Golden Eagles 78-73. Artis averaged 8.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists per contest in five games during the tournament, scoring 17 points and collecting six rebounds in the championship game.
Artis (2013-17) graduated from Pitt 11th on the all-time scoring list with 1,696 points. He is one of just four players in school history to total 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 250 assists in a career. Artis averaged 12.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game as a Panther.
BC Juventus is coming off a 13-11 season that saw the team finish fifth in a 10-team league. Currently, the team is one game into its 2020-21 slate and sits at 0-1 after a 106-77 loss to BC Rytas.
