Women’s Soccer, Football Student-Athletes Honored
PITTSBURGH – Leah Pais of women's soccer and Todd Sibley Jr. of football were named the Office Depot/Supra Student-Athletes of the Week following impressive performances in their respective sports.
A transfer from Albany, Pais made an instant impact on the start of the fall season for Pitt women's soccer. Pais recorded the second-most points (five) in a Panther's debut in Thursday's 4-0 victory at Appalachian State, scoring the game's first two goals and assisting on another. Once again she scored the game's first goal in a 7-1 win over the Mountaineers on Sunday.
Sibley, a junior running back, proved his value on offense and special teams in Pitt football's dominant 2020 season opener, helping the Panthers defeat Austin Peay 55-0 at Heinz Field Saturday. Sibley scored two touchdowns in the game. His first came on a 1-yard rushing plunge, while his second was a result of Sibley blocking and smothering an Austin Peay punt before scooping it up himself and returning it 11 yards for another score.
