Pitt Grad Transfer Lucas Krull Selected for Mackey Award Watch List

PITTSBURGH—University of Pittsburgh graduate transfer Lucas Krull has been named to the watch list for the John Mackey Award, annually presented to the most outstanding collegiate tight end.
Krull enrolled at Pitt in January as a graduate transfer from the University of Florida and participated in the Panthers' abbreviated spring drills. He will have one season of immediate eligibility.

Krull played in 25 games over the 2018 and '19 seasons for the Gators, catching nine passes for 108 yards (12.0 avg.). He also completed 2-of-2 passes for 19 yards on gadget plays.
A hard-throwing pitcher, Krull played baseball for Jefferson College in Missouri during the 2017-18 season. He appeared in 11 games, making five starts, and notched 27 strikeouts in 16.2 innings pitched. Krull was selected in the 34th round of the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft by the San Francisco Giants.
He earned his bachelor's degree from Florida in arts and literature with a major in African American studies. Krull is enrolled in Pitt's Katz Graduate School of Business.
Two Pitt players have previously been selected as finalists for the Mackey Award: Dorin Dickerson in 2009 and Kris Wilson in 2003.
