Pitt Football Places Four on NFL 2010s All-Decade Team

PITTSBURGH—Four former Pitt football players were named to the NFL 2010s All-Decade Team unveiled today by the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Defensive tackle Aaron Donald, wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, running back LeSean McCoy and cornerback Darrelle Revis were selected to the 52-member team. The Panthers' four selections tied for the most of any school.
Only players who received at least one selection to a Pro Bowl, Associated Press All-Pro team or Pro Football Writers Association all-conference team during the 2010-19 seasons were eligible.
Donald, who starred at Pitt from 2010-13, was one of only eight unanimous selections to the 2010s All-Decade Team. Since joining the Rams in 2014, he has gone on to redefine the defensive tackle position. Donald has been named first team All-Pro each of the past five years. He was the NFL's Defensive Player of the Year in 2017 and 2018. Donald collected an incredible 20.5 sacks in 2018, the most ever by a defensive tackle.
Fitzgerald, the Panthers' all-time leader with 34 career touchdown receptions from 2002-03, is one of the most prolific and durable receivers in NFL history. Through 16 professional seasons—all with the Arizona Cardinals—he has amassed the second-most receptions (1,378) and receiving yards (17,083) in NFL history. Fitzgerald was the only active receiver named to the NFL 100 All-Time Team.
Like Fitzgerald, McCoy had two spectacular seasons at Pitt (2007-08) before declaring for the NFL Draft. During the 2010 decade, he led all NFL rushers with 10,434 yards and also ran for 69 touchdowns. McCoy was elected to six Pro Bowls, including in 2013 when he was the NFL rushing champion with 1,607 yards.
Revis dazzled at Pitt from 2004-06 before becoming a first-round pick of the New York Jets in 2007. Over 11 NFL seasons, he was a seven-time Pro Bowler and four-time first team All-Pro. In 2014, he added Super Bowl champion to his résumé as a lockdown corner for the New England Patriots. The man dubbed "Revis Island" compiled 29 interceptions and 139 passes defended over his illustrious career.
As an All-Decade Team member, these four players are highly viable candidates for the NFL's loftiest honor: the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Panthers already boast nine honorees, including tackle Jimbo Covert, who is slated to receive his official induction in the fall.
Pitt ranks fifth among all schools in the production of Pro Football Hall of Famers.
