PITTSBURGH – Head coach Jeff Capel continued to bolster the Pitt Basketball roster during the spring signing period with the addition of highly touted guard Femi Odukale.
"Femi displayed outstanding versatility, talent, toughness and competitiveness during an outstanding post-grad season," said Capel. "We are excited to add him to our recruiting class and look forward to having him in our program. He is mentally and physically mature and will have an opportunity to come in and make an immediate impact next season."
Odukale, a Brooklyn native, spent the past season at Springfield Commonwealth Academy [Mass.] where he averaged 17.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, 8.8 assists, 1.2 blocks and 2.7 steals per game, while shooting 52 percent from the field, including 39 percent from three-point range. The 6-5, 190-pound guard jumped up recruiting boards with an outstanding post-grad season, vastly improving his guard skills to go along with excellent length, athleticism and versatility on the wing as he led SCA to a 30-7 record, a Power 5 Conference title and a spot in the quarterfinals of the National Prep Championship.
Odukale posted six 30+ point games and eight triple-doubles en route to earning first team all-conference as well as Power 5 Conference Player of the Year honors. He also was named Most Valuable Player of the NYL Invitational after leading the Tornadoes to the team championship.
Odukale, rated as the top player out of Massachusetts by the New England Recruiting Report, previously starred at South Shore High School in Brooklyn before attending SCA.
With the addition of Odukale, Pitt's four-person 2020 recruiting class is now ranked 34th by 247 Sports. Top-100 forward John Hugley, four-star forward Noah Collier and emerging three-star center Max Amadasun currently join him in the class.
Odukale selected Pitt over offers from DePaul, Massachusetts, Washington State, Virginia Tech, St. Bonaventure and Seton Hall.
