Three Pitt Club Lacrosse Players Added to Roster
PITTSBURGH – University of Pittsburgh head lacrosse coach Emily Boissonneault announced the addition of three student-athletes to the program Thursday afternoon.
Joining the team are current Pitt sophomores Caroline Lederman, Kierin Ratliff-Kailbourne and Payton Reed of Pitt club lacrosse team.
Boissonneault now has nine student-athletes on the roster.
"We are thrilled to be welcoming Caroline, Kierin, and Payton to our team," said Boissonneault. "Their journey to this point has been very different than many of their teammates. They have just completed their third semester here at Pitt while competing and winning the 2019 National Champions with Pitt's club team. Daniela [Eppler] and I have been training them for the last few months and are impressed with their eagerness and coachability over this time. Their experience and leadership will be a valuable asset as we continue to develop the culture of our team."
Caroline Lederman | Midfield/Defense | Rochester, N.Y. | Brighton High School
At Pitt:
High School/Club:
Boissonneault on Lederman:
"Caroline continues to impress us every time we see her. She takes our instruction without question and is excited to learn. Outside of lacrosse, Caroline is someone we expect to bring leadership to our young team."
Lederman on joining the team:
"I originally chose Pitt because I knew it was an environment where I could have great academic, athletic, and social success. I hope to become a Physician Assistant, and Pitt has outstanding courses in the sciences. I've found that I have access to the resources and tools I need to be successful. Pitt's Lady Panther Lacrosse Club has been incredibly influential in my first two years of school. Not only did this team provide me with excellent lacrosse success with our 2019 National Championship, but this team also provided me with my best friends. There is no doubt that the University of Pittsburgh attracts well-rounded, intelligent, and caring individuals. Now two years into my college journey, I have been given the opportunity to have a new athletic success. I am beyond excited to be a part of this program. Emily and Daniela's energy, work ethic, lacrosse IQ, and determination are admirable and contagious. I can't wait to get behind these fearless leaders and build something amazing."
Kierin Ratliff-Bailbourne | Attack | Honeoye Falls, N.Y. | Honeoye Falls-Lima High School
At Pitt:
High School/Club:
Boissonneault on Ratliff-Bailbourne:
"Kierin is a confident attacker that can feed and score. She started every game as a low attacker for Pitt and knows how to get the job done. We are excited to take her game to the next level and watch her flourish into an exceptional collegiate athlete."
Ratliff-Bailbourne on joining the team:
"I chose Pitt before the lacrosse team was at the University because it felt like home the second I stepped on campus."
Payton Reed | Midfield | Honeoye Falls, N.Y. | Honeoye Falls-Lima High School
At Pitt:
High School/Club:
Boissonneault on Reed:
"Payton's strongest tool is her athleticism. She works at an extremely high rate and we feel confident she will be able to work at the ACC level. We expect Payton to thrive on the defensive end and play a large role in transitioning the ball down the field."
Reed on joining the team:
"I chose Pitt two years ago because of its academic standing, amazing faculty and facilities, city location, and campus atmosphere. With my time here, Pitt has only exceeded my expectations and continues to be the perfect fit. I am so excited to be a part of Pitt's inaugural lacrosse season and I cannot wait to start something amazing."
Note: All three new Panthers grew up in the Rochester, N.Y., area and played with or against each other.
Lederman, Ratliff-Bailbourne and Reed join the inaugural Pitt lacrosse class with Emily Coughlin, Kate Elam, Madigan Lublin, Maureen McNierney, Abby Thorne and Riley Patrick.
Pitt's first competitive season in the ACC will be in 2021-22.
