PITTSBURGH—Pitt senior defensive end Rashad Weaver's elite play throughout the 2020 season was formally recognized today when he was named a first-team selection on the Pro Football Focus All-America Team.
In its analysis of Weaver, PFF wrote: "Weaver finished his season with a 90.0 pass-rush grade and produced multiple pressures in every single game played. And he did this despite facing some extremely stiff competition in the ACC. The Pitt edge defender racked up 20 total pressures in his games against Notre Dame, Clemson, Virginia Tech and Boston College, the four best sets of tackles in the ACC this year."

On the year, Weaver (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cooper City) totaled 35 tackles, 14.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, 12 QB hurries, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He led the ACC in sacks (0.83/game, 17th nationally) and tackles for loss (1.6/game, 16th nationally).
Weaver's production is particularly impressive considering he missed the entire 2019 season due to a knee injury. He is a semifinalist for the Chuck Bednarik Award, annually presented to the outstanding defensive player of the year by the Maxwell Football Club.
In addition to Weaver's PFF recognition, junior punter Kirk Christodoulou was named a second team Pro Football Focus All-American.

Christodoulou averaged a career-high 44.7 yards on 53 punts this season with only one touchback. He placed 23 inside the 20-yard line and 30 of his punts resulted in a fair catch.
Pitt opponents managed only 83 punt return yards this season, resulting in a 41.94 net average, the 12th best in the country.
Christodoulou is a semifinalist for the Ray Guy Award, presented to the college punter of the year by the Augusta Sports Council.
