Lund, Petkovic Named Office Depot/Supra Student-Athletes of the Week

Volleyball, Men’s Soccer Student-Athletes Honored
PITTSBURGH – Kayla Lund of volleyball and Veljko Petkovic of football were named the Office Depot/Supra Student-Athletes of the Week following impressive performances in their respective sports.
Lund led the No. 11 Pitt volleyball team with 5.86 kills per set on .338 hitting over two home wins against Boston College last weekend. The senior captain tallied a career-high 25 kills against the Eagles in the first match, hitting .348. She followed up that performance with 16 kills in a Saturday sweep of BC, hitting .321. Rounding out the stat sheet, the reigning ACC Player of the Year produced 1.43 digs, 0.43 blocks and 0.29 service aces per frame for the series sweep.
Petkovic led the offense this past week for the second-ranked men's soccer team, scoring three goals and adding an assist in wins over Syracuse and Virginia Tech. The sophomore scored twice against the Orange and registered all three of his shots on goal. The Nis, Serbia, native also netted a goal at home against the Hokies and assisted classmate Valentin Noel on the final goal of the game. Petkovic went a perfect 5-for-5 in shots/shots on goal in both games combined and he now leads the Panthers in goals scored and shot percentage (.500).
