PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh men's basketball team announced a portion of its 2019-20 schedule Tuesday afternoon, beginning with a Wednesday, Nov. 6 season opener against Atlantic Coast Conference foe Florida State.
Following the season opener, Pitt will host Nicholls State Saturday, Nov. 9 before helping Robert Morris open Peoples Court at UPMC Events Center Tuesday, Nov. 12.
The Backyard Brawl presented by EQT returns to the Petersen Events Center Friday, Nov. 15 as Pitt and West Virginia square off for the 187th time.
The Panthers host Monmouth (Nov. 18) and Arkansas Pine Bluff (Nov. 21) in campus games of the Rocket Mortgage by Quicken Loans Fort Myers Tip-Off before heading to Florida for championship round games. Pitt faces Kansas State Monday, Nov. 25 and will play either Northwestern or Bradley, Nov. 27 at Suncoast Credit Union Arena in Fort Myers, Fla.
Pitt opens December with a home game against Rutgers (Dec. 3) in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Panthers conclude non-conference play with home games against Northern Illinois (Dec. 16), Binghamton (Dec. 20) and Canisius (Dec. 30).
Season tickets can be purchased online HERE or by calling the Panthers Ticket Office at 800-643-7488.
Pitt is moving the team benches to the opposite sideline, repositioning the best pep band in the country, and flipping the script Pitt logo at center court as part of the renovations to the Petersen Events Center prior to the start of the 2019-20 season. The renowned Oakland Zoo student section will now be directly behind the team benches to best capture their pride and enthusiasm live in the Petersen Events Center as well as for our dedicated alumni and fans watching around the country on our broadcast partners, including the new ACC Network.
ACC opponents for 2019-20 have been announced with Pitt's six repeat (home and away) opponents in 2019-20 being Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, North Carolina and Syracuse. The Panthers will also host Boston College, Clemson, Virginia and Wake Forest, while making trips to Duke, NC State, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech.
Many of Pitt's non-conference and ACC games will be aired on the new ACC Network, brought to you by ESPN and the Atlantic Coast Conference, scheduled to launch Aug. 22. More information on the ACC Network is available at www.GetACCN.com. All fans should contact their cable provider to demand they carry the new ACC Network. ACCN currently has carriage deals with DirecTV, Fios, Google Fiber, Hulu, Optimum, PlayStation Vue and CTNC, a conglomerate of smaller cable companies across the country that includes local carrier Armstrong Cable.
Pitt's complete schedule including game times and TV designations is expected to be announced in late August.
