PITTSBURGH – Pitt gymnastics head coach Samantha Snider has announced the addition of Ciara Ward for the upcoming 2020 season.
"Ciara is a powerful gymnast and we expect her to contribute immediately for us this upcoming season," Snider said. "We're excited to showcase her talent and for her to elevate our program to the next level."
A native of Prince Frederick, Md., Ward competes for Apollo Gymnastics out of Woodbridge, Va. She recently became a Junior Olympic National Qualifier after placing sixth in the all-around, uneven bars and floor exercise at Level 10 Regionals in Virginia Beach, Va. She was runner-up at the 2019 Level 10 Virginia State meet in the all-around, vault and bars.
"I'm extremely excited to join the Pitt gymnastics team this upcoming season," Ward said. "I'm looking forward to becoming a part of an amazing family, program and school. I can't wait to make lifelong memories for the next chapter of my life."
She has been training as a level 10 gymnast since 2017. At her team banquet in 2018, she received the "Hardest Worker" award from her coaches.
Ward is an honor student at Huntingtown High School and has recorded over 40 hours of community service.
