Conrad, Solak Named to 2019 Cohort
DURHAM, N.C. – Recent University of Pittsburgh graduates Catie Conrad and Alexis Solak have been named to the 2019 Teamworks Academy cohort, as announced Tuesday.
Teamworks is the leading athlete engagement platform for professional and collegiate organizations. During their time with the Academy, the two Forever Panthers will gain foundational business skills while serving Teamworks customers.
"Since I was a kid, sports have always been a major part of my life," Conrad, a Pitt gymnastics alumnus, said. "As a former student-athlete transitioning into the business world, the opportunity to start a job within the field of athletics is so incredibly thrilling, especially with an outstanding company like Teamworks. Pittsburgh has been my home for the past two years and has prepared me to accept this full-time position. The university and athletic department provided the necessary resources to develop my leadership, business, and communication skills and I am beyond grateful. I am so excited to join the Teamworks family and hit the ground running at their headquarters in Durham."
According to a Teamworks press release, the Academy aims to help former student-athletes transition from their athletic careers into the business workforce. The program combines foundational personal and professional development skills with hands-on work across the company. Academy members receive training in customer service; written and verbal communication; presentations; analytical and critical thinking; active listening; problem-solving and business acumen.
"I'm thrilled to start my technology career at such an innovative and dynamic company," said Solak, who recently completed her Pitt softball career. "At Teamworks, I'll be working in a supportive and creative work culture that allows me to apply my business information degree and real-world experience as a student-athlete to meet the needs of other athletes and elite teams."
The 2019 Teamworks Academy class is comprised of five former student-athletes, including:
Catie Conrad, University of Pittsburgh, Gymnastics
Abbi Fitts, University of Louisville, Rowing
McKenna Goss, Boston College, Volleyball
Caroline Pangallo, Connecticut College, Basketball
Alexis Solak, University of Pittsburgh, Softball
