
Cross Country Posts A Pair Of Top-20 Team Finishes At 46th Paul Short Run

BETHLEHEM, PA – In their first meet in nearly a month, the University of Pittsburgh cross country teams competed at the 46th Annual Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University on Saturday morning. The Pitt men posted a 13th place team finish while the women notched a 19th place team finish.
On the men's side, the Panthers competed in the men's gold 8K race and posted a team score of 378 as they were able to take home 13th place in the field of 44 of the best teams in the country.
Senior captain Nick Wolk led the Panthers on Saturday afternoon as he notched a 22nd place finish as he crossed the finish line in 23:54.82. A pair of Panthers also posted top-75 finishes in the field of 380 runners as Zach Lefever came in 36th place in 24:04.94 and Evan Addison notched a 75th place finish in 24:24.81. Freshman Jack Miller was the fourth Panther to cross the line on Saturday as he took 102nd place in 24:35.97 while Josh Higgins closed out the top-five for Pitt finishing in 161st place in 24:58.91.
The women's team posted a top-20 team finish on Saturday as they posted a team score of 655 in the women's gold 6K race to take 20th place in the field of 43 teams.
The top finisher for the Pitt women was senior captain Sam Shields who recorded a 69th place finish, crossing the finish line in 21:02.14 while Ally Brunton finished right behind Shields in 71st place in 21:02.32. Devon Hoernlein continued her strong start to the season with a 134th place finish in 21:31.06 while freshman Lily Robertson had a strong showing, finishing in 136th place in 21:31.50. Senior Sarah Frick was the fifth Pitt runner to cross the finish line, posting a time of 22:55.49.
The Panthers will now have a week off before heading down to College Station, TX on Saturday, October 19 to compete in the Texas A&M Arturo Barrios Invitational.
