Pitt Returns To Action At 46th Annual Paul Short Run On Saturday

PITTSBURGH – After nearly a month long hiatus from competition, the University of Pittsburgh cross country teams will return to action on Saturday morning at the 46th annual Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University. The men's race will open things up at 11:00 am followed by the women's 6K race at 11:45 am.

- Set to compete for the Panthers on the women's side are Brenda Ayuk, Sarah Frick, Corinne Firestone, Lily Robertson, Ally Brunton, Sam Shields, Katrina Durrwachter, Devon Hoernlein, Caroline Bolen and Maura Gallagher.
- Competing for the men are Alex Brokaw, Nick Cardamone, Evan Addison, Jack Miller, Zach Lefever, Jackson Morton, Josh Higgins and Nick Wolk.
- The field for the 46th annual Paul Short Run will feature some of the top programs across the country.
- On the men's side, a total of 46 teams will be competing in the "Gold" race at 11:00 am while 44 women's teams will be running in the "Gold" race at 11:45 am.
- The last meet for the Panthers came nearly a month ago as they traveled to Shippensburg University to race in the Galen Piper Invitational (Sept. 6).
- The women's team had a strong showing in the 10th annual race as they collected their second straight team victory to open the season. The Panthers had a team score of 15 while the second place team had a team score of 54.
- Sophomore Devon Hoernlein led the way for Pitt as she notched her first collegiate individual victory, crossing the finish line in 14:40.10, three second ahead of the second place finisher.
- The Panthers had six of the top eight finishers in the race as freshman Corinne Firestone took home third place in 15:03.50, Lily Robertson finished fourth in 15:18.00, Sarah Frick took home fifth place in 15:19.50. Katrina Durrwachter finished in sixth and Emily Bonaventure finished in eight place.
- On the men's side, only three Panthers competed in the race as Nick Cardamone notched a career-best second place finish in 19:29.50 while Tyler Senall and Jackson Morton took home 15th and 18th places, respectively.
- The Panthers will return to action in two weeks as they head down to College Station, TX to compete at the Texas A&M Arturo Barrios Invitational at 10:00 am.
