PITTSBURGH -- Drivers entering Oakland at Bates Street and the Boulevard of the Allies will now be greeted with a Pitt football hand-painted mural thanks to the work of 2011 University of Pittsburgh graduate, Jeremy Raymer.
Pitt Athletics partnered with Raymer, a well-known local artist, and Lamar Advertising to create three billboards, each of which will be hung for approximately three months. Lamar provided Raymer a blank canvas to create his masterpiece, which is now hanging at the Oakland intersection.
"I got an email back in December from Pitt Athletics and we decided to go with three hand-painted billboards that are going to promote Pitt football, basketball and Pitt Athletics in general," Raymer said. "We met a few times and chose a few key images from years past. I zoomed in some elements of them and recreated them in full size in my likeness and style."
Stay tuned for the reveals and locations of the remaining two billboards.
