Pitt Announces 2018-19 Non-Conference Schedule

Game Times and TV Designations to Be Announced at a Later Date
PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh men's basketball program announced its non-conference opponents and game dates Monday, highlighted by the 186th edition of the Backyard Brawl presented by EQT. The Panthers will host nine games at the Petersen Events Center as a part of a 13-game non-conference slate.
"We have put together a balanced non-conference schedule that will help us prepare for conference play," said head coach Jeff Capel. "A couple of our marquee matchups in non-conference play will be on the road but our home schedule is loaded when you look at the fact we are hosting seven NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago in conference play. We are excited about the opportunity we have this season and look forward to seeing some great crowds at the Pete."
The Panthers will play Pitt-Johnstown in an exhibition game Thursday, Nov. 1, before beginning regular season play the following week.
Pitt opens the season at the Pete with home games against Youngstown State (Nov. 6) and VMI (Nov. 9). The Panthers then begin competition in the Barclays Classic, hosting Troy (Nov. 12), Central Arkansas (Nov. 15) and North Alabama (Nov. 17) before heading to the Barclays Center in Brooklyn for a matchup with St. Louis (Nov. 21).
Pitt will then travel to Iowa for a matchup against the Hawkeyes (Nov. 27) in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge before returning to Pittsburgh for the annual City Game presented by GNC against Duquesne (Nov. 30) at PPG Paints Arena. Following a meeting with Niagara (Dec. 3), the Panthers head to Morgantown, W.Va., for a marquee matchup against the Mountaineers (Dec. 8), who made an appearance in the Sweet 16 at last year's NCAA Tournament.
Pitt closes non-league play with home matchups against Maryland Eastern Shore (Dec. 15), New Orleans (Dec. 20) and Colgate (Dec. 29) before the start of ACC play.

In early April, Pitt announced season ticket price restructuring for the 2018-19 season that has created reduced pricing in nearly every location of the Petersen Events Center.
