Returning Pitt All-America Return Man Makes 40-Player Shortlist
PITTSBURGH—Pitt junior wide receiver and kick return specialist Quadree Henderson was one of 40 players named to the watch list for the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award on Friday morning.
Following his consensus All-American sophomore season as a kick returner and all-purpose threat, Henderson (Wilmington, Del./Alexis I. du Pont) has now been named to the watch lists for Walter Camp Award, Maxwell Award and Hornung Award, along with earning selection to the All-ACC Preseason Football Team.
Henderson was the only wide receiver and kick returner from the ACC chosen by the Walter Camp Football Foundation for its selective preseason watch list. He joined quarterbacks Lamar Jackson (Louisville) and Deondre Francois (Florida State), running back Mark Walton (Miami) and defenders Harold Landry (Boston College), Derwin James (Florida State), Dexter Lawrence (Clemson) and Christian Wilkins (Clemson) as ACC players tabbed for preseason nomination for the Walter Camp Award.
A true all-purpose threat, Henderson became the second Pitt player to top 2,000 all-purpose yards in a season in 2016, joining Tony Dorsett, who accomplished the feat during his Heisman Trophy-winning season in 1976.
Henderson's amassed 2,083 all-purpose yards last year via a Pitt-record 914 kickoff return yards, 631 rushing yards, 286 receiving yards and 252 punt return yards, scoring at least one touchdown in each manner as well.
The 5-foot-8, 190-pound speedster is now firmly on the radar for all of college football's top awards in 2017.
Season tickets and mini-packages for the 2017 Pitt football season are now on sale.
