
Williams, Hill Obtain First National Bank Weekly Honors

Volleyball, Men’s Soccer Continue to Impress
PITTSBURGH – University of Pittsburgh student-athletes Stephanie Williams and Mauriq Hill were named First National Bank Student-Athletes of the Week, announced Tuesday.
Williams, a redshirt sophomore, had a phenomenal week for the Pitt volleyball team (15-4, 8-0 ACC) after leading the Panthers to a 2-0 weekend against Syracuse and Boston College. Pitt has now won 12 consecutive matches dating back to Sept. 9 and remains undefeated in ACC play. Williams was outstanding offensively, tallying 4.00 kills per set after putting away 24 kills in 49 attempts in just six sets. The sophomore hit at a .408 clip on the weekend. Williams also tallied 14 digs (2.33/set). The Eastlake, Ohio native started the weekend with a team-leading 14 kills against the Orange. She hit .429 on the match after committing just two errors in 28 attempts. Williams dug up five balls in the game. Against the Eagles, Williams led the offense as she finished with 10 kills and posted a .381 clip to mark her 12th-straight match hitting in double-digits and 15th total on the season. She also had a team-leading nine digs.
Hill, a redshirt senior, was a major part an outstanding week for Pitt men's soccer (8-6-0, 2-4-0 ACC) in which the Panthers upset No. 7 Notre Dame (Oct. 13), defeated in-state rival Penn State (Oct. 10), and climbed to No. 14 in the NCAA RPI rankings. The win over the Nittany Lions was Pitt's first since 1978 and the defeat of Notre Dame was the Panthers' first win against a top 10 team since 2000. Hill and the Panthers' defense held Penn State and Notre Dame to a combined seven shots on goal.
Pitt volleyball will return to Fitzgerald Field House this weekend to host North Carolina (9-7, 6-2 ACC) Friday at 7 p.m., and NC State (13-6, 8-0 ACC) Sunday at 1 p.m. Both matches will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
Pitt men's soccer will head to Virginia (9-1-3, 2-1-3 ACC) Friday to take on the conference foe Cavaliers at 7 p.m. ET.
