Redshirt Senior Played Major Role in Pitt’s Success Last Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Redshirt senior Mauriq Hill of the University of Pittsburgh men's soccer team was tabbed ACC Defender of the Week as announced by the league Monday afternoon.
Hill played a crucial role in the Panthers' notable wins last week as they defeated long-time rivals Penn State and No. 7 Notre Dame, improving Pitt's record to 8-6 overall.
Tuesday's win over Penn State featured the Panther defense holding the Nittany Lions to four shots on goal, en route to their first win over PSU since 1978.
Pitt then traveled to No. 7 Notre Dame Friday, where the Panthers held the Fighting Irish to three shots on goal. The squad picked up its first win over Notre Dame since 2002 and was the first win over a top-10 opponent since 2000.
The weekly recognition is the second of the season and in program history for the Panthers as senior Bryce Cregan was named ACC Defender of the Week Oct. 2.
Pitt resumes action Friday, Oct. 20 when the team makes the trip to Charlottesville, Va., to take on the nationally-ranked Cavaliers at 7 p.m.
