Pitt Faces Longwood Monday

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Pitt men's soccer team (1-5-2, 0-2-1 ACC) is set to face Longwood (3-4-1, 0-1-0 Big South) in Farmville, Va., at the Athletics Complex Monday, Sept. 26. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
The match will be streamed live on the Big South Network, while live stats will be provided here.
THE SERIES
- Monday's game will be just the third meeting between the two teams.
- Pitt leads the series 1-0-1.
- The last meeting came in 2014 that resulted in a 1-0 win for the Panthers on the road.
LAST TIME OUT
- Pitt recently battled to a 1-1 double overtime draw Friday, Sept. 23, against Duke in ACC action.
- The Blue Devils struck first, netting their first goal 26 seconds into the game off a penalty kick.
- The Panthers responded in the 22nd minute, as freshman Luca Mellor headed in the equalizer off a corner kick.
- Pitt held Duke for the remainder of the game, but was unable to put in another goal themselves.
SCOUTING LONGWOOD
- In their last time out, the Lancers fell 3-2 to Big South foe UNC Asheville, Saturday, Sept. 24 on the road.
- Longwood is led by redshirt sophomore Mo Jalloh (two goals, one assist) and redshirt senior Zach Corcoran (two goals, one assist), who both have five points on the season.
- In goal, senior Carlos Canas has appeared in six games for the Lancers thus far and has made 25 saves, while freshman keeper Lance Da Silva has recently seen minutes and has made eight saves.
- Longwood concluded the 2015 campaign 9-9-1 overall with a 4-4-1 mark against conference opponents.

- Mellor continues to lead the Panthers with six points after scoring his third goal of the season Friday at Duke.
- Junior Roosevelt Angulo has four points thus far with one goal and two assists.
- Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Mikal Outcalt has appeared in all eight games and has made 40 saves.
- Pitt's 18-game regular season schedule is highlighted by four matchups against teams ranked in the top 20 of the NSCAA Preseason Poll in North Carolina, Notre Dame, Boston College and Virginia.
- The Panthers enter their fourth season as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
VIDOVICH ENTERS FIRST YEAR
- Head coach Jay Vidovich (273-126-52, 76-54-23 ACC) is in his first year at the helm of the Pitt men's soccer program.
- Vidovich, a two-time NSCAA Coach of the Year honoree, came to Pitt after spending 21 seasons at Wake Forest, which was highlighted by capturing the 2007 NCAA championship.
- Under his regime, Wake Forest won five Atlantic Coast Conference titles, compiling a 76-52-22 mark in one of the nation's most challenging leagues.
LOOKING AHEAD
- The Panthers return to Pittsburgh Friday, Sept. 30, to host ACC opponent No. 3 Notre Dame. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Ambrose Urbanic Field in the Petersen Sports Complex.
