KANSAS CITY, MO – The University of Pittsburgh men’s and women’s soccer teams were honored by the National Soccer Coaches of America Association (NSCAA) this afternoon, as team academic award winners.
More than 890 schools were honored across all divisions, with 314 men’s teams and 578 women’s team throughout the United States garnering the recognition. Of those programs, 222, including Pitt, received honors for both their men’s and women’s teams.
The women boast a cumulative GPA of 3.25 for the 2015-16 academic year. It is the fifth time in six years that the women have been named to the list as they earned the honor in four straight seasons from 2011-14.
The men’s side posted a team GPA of 3.09 at the conclusion of the 2015-16 academic year. This is the second recognition for the men’s squad as they earned the distinction during the 2012-13 season as well.
To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year.
