Boston College Visits Pitt Friday

PITTSBURGH - The Pitt men's soccer team (2-7-2, 0-3-1 ACC) will host Boston College (5-3-1, 1-2-1 ACC) in conference action Friday, Oct. 7, at Ambrose Urbanic Field in the Petersen Sports Complex.

THE SERIES

- The Eagles lead the all-time series 11-4-2.

- The two teams last met a year ago at Boston College that resulted in a 2-0 loss for the Panthers.

- Head coach Jay Vidovich is 4-4-2 against the Eagles.

LAST TIME OUT

- Pitt fell 1-0 to Saint Mary's (CA) Monday, Oct. 3, in non-conference action.

- The Gaels netted the lone goal of the game in the 73^rd minute.

SCOUTING THE EAGLES

- Boston College comes to Pittsburgh after a 1-1 double overtime draw with then-ranked No. 9 Louisville.

- The Eagles are led by senior midfielder Maximilian Schulze-Geisthovel with 12 points (six goals). Close behind is sophomore forward Simon Enstrom with 10 points (four goals, two assists).

- In goal, sophomore Cedric Saladin has appeared in all nine games and has made 30 saves (.667).

- The Eagles came in a No. 7 in the most recent RPI (Oct. 3) and are receiving votes this week in the NSCAA Coaches' Poll.

NEWS & INFO

- Freshman Luca Mellor continues to lead the Panthers with six points after scoring his third goal of the season Friday, Sept. 23, at Duke.

- Senior Matt Venanzi (two goals) and junior Roosevelt Angulo (one goal, two assists) have four points apiece, good for second-best on the team.

- Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Mikal Outcalt has appeared in all 11 games and has made 52 saves (.788).

- The Panthers are in their fourth season as members of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

VIDOVICH ENTERS FIRST YEAR

- Head coach Jay Vidovich (274-127-53, 76-54-24 ACC) is in his first year at the helm of the Pitt men's soccer program.

- Vidovich, a two-time NSCAA Coach of the Year honoree, came to Pitt after spending 21 seasons at Wake Forest, which was highlighted by capturing the 2007 NCAA championship.

- Under his regime, Wake Forest won five Atlantic Coast Conference titles, compiling a 76-52-22 mark in one of the nation's most challenging leagues.

LOOKING AHEAD

- The Panthers hit the road for the following three matches: Penn State (Oct. 11), NC State (Oct. 15), Cleveland State (Oct. 18).

- Pitt will return to Pittsburgh Oct. 21, to host Virginia before concluded the regular season on the road at Virginia Tech Oct. 28.
