First Half Goals Lift Wolfpack to Victory

RALEIGH, N.C. - Three first half goals lifted the NC State Wolfpack (4-9-0, 1-5-0 ACC) to a win over the Pitt men's soccer team (2-10-2, 0-5-1 ACC) Saturday night at Dail Soccer Field.
The Wolfpack struck first in the eighth minute as NC State's Julius Duchscherer received a pass from Maximiliam Luftl and buried the ball from ten yards out.
Duchscherer netted his second goal of the night in the 17th minute on a through ball from Travis Wannemuehler. He sent the left footed shot to the far post, giving the Wolfpack a 2-0 lead.
NC State then took a 3-0 lead in the 30th minute after a Wolfpack shot heading wide of the frame was deflected off a Pitt defender into the goal.
Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Mikal Outcalt made eight saves on the night, while the Panthers' offense attempted five shots.
Pitt remains on the road for its next game, taking on Cleveland State Tuesday, Oct. 18, at 7 p.m.
