Miami at Pitt • Petersen Events Center • Pittsburgh, Pa. • March 4, 2015
Miami 67, Pitt 63
*The 67-63 loss to Miami drops Pitt to 19-12 overall and 8-9 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Pitt now has one regular season contest remaining: at Florida State (Saturday, March 7).
*Pitt needs one more victory to reach the 20-win plateau for the 22nd time in school history. With another win, it would mark the 14th consecutive season that Pitt totaled 20 or more victories.
*Tonight's loss closed out Pitt's 2014-15 regular season with a 14-3 overall home record at the Petersen Events Center.
*Pitt lost its first game of the season when leading at halftime. It is now 12-1 on the year when leading at halftime.
*Pitt tied a season-low for free throws made (7) and free throw attempts (8). The Panthers also registered just seven free throws made at Syracuse on Feb. 21 and vs. Holy Cross on Dec. 23. Pitt also attempted eight free throws at Syracuse on Feb. 21.
*For the third consecutive game, Michael Young notched 22 points. It marked his fifth 20-point game of his career and season. Over the last three games, Young has averaged 22.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game while shooting 21-34 (.618) from the floor. Young has reached double figure scoring in 20 of his last 22 games, 25 times on the year and 30 times for his career. He also tied a career-high with four assists.
*For the 15th consecutive game, Jamel Artis reached double figure scoring as he finished with 14 points on the evening. Artis has now reached double figure scoring in 22 games on the year and 24 for his career.
*Cameron Wright finished with 11 points (5-8 FG) with five assists in 31 minutes of action. He reached double figures in points for the 13th time this year and 38th time in his career.
*Sheldon Jeter tied a career-high with three 3-pointers made. His previous high was three at Arkansas on Feb. 9, 2013. He finished with 11 points on the night, his fifth double figure scoring contest of the season and fourth in the last eight games played.
*Tonight's game against Miami represented Senior Day for Cameron Wright, Aron Phillips-Nwankwo and Derrick Randall. All three seniors were honored in a pre-game ceremony which included remarks from Pitt coach Jamie Dixon. Following are the trio's achievements (as of March 4, 2015):
-Compiled a 91-48 career record.
-Two-time NCAA Tournament participants (2013, 2014) and three-time post-season participants.
-Three consecutive 20-win seasons (22 in 2011-12, 24 in 2012-13, 22 in 2013-14, 19 in 2014-15).
-Achieved two 10-plus win conference regular seasons (12 in 2012-13, 11 in 2013-14).
-Compiled a 58-18 four-year record and a .763 winning percentage in games played at the Petersen Events Center.
-Totaled a 49-7 four-year record and .875 winning percentage in games vs. non-conference teams.
-Cameron Wright ranks among school career leaders in steals (14th at 137) and games played (18th at 127). He also has scored 802 points, grabbed 285 rebounds and dished out 220 assists in his five-year career.
-Cameron Wright was named the ACC's 2014 Skip Prosser Award winner, the ACC's scholar-athlete of the year for men's basketball. A four-time academic all-league selection, Wright was also nominated for the NABC Good Works Team and Senior CLASS Award.
-Cameron Wright graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Marketing and is pursuing a second business major in human resources management, Aron Phillips-Nwankwo (Neuroscience) and Derrick Randall (Administration of Justice) are both expected to graduate in April.
